The Carmelite monastery at Pau in France, where Mariam became a Carmelite nun, is at risk of being sold because the Bétharram priests who now own it no longer have the means to keep it going. The little hermitage above is the place where Mariam received the transverberation of the heart.
“On the 24th May, many sisters had gone to the hermitage to pray the Rosary. There they found the young novice in her usual state of fervent prayer. Her heart was ablaze and seemed to be overflowing. In her state of ecstasy, she broke out into expressions of love…Seeing a statue of St Teresa, she cried out, ‘Mother Teresa, Jesus has pierced my heart!’
